With more and more news coverage and stories coming out of young girls being sold for sex on Backpage.com- the site continues to fight back.
“I think it’s very important to understand that to stop human trafficking online, you have to fight human trafficking online. And we provide an extraordinary tool to do that, because we are online,” Liz McDougall, the lawyer for Backpage, told abcnews.com.
The fact that backpage.com is still running these ads and has not pulled down their “adult” section is disgusting. The fact that they are fighting back claiming to be part of the solution to catching the pimps is outrageous. If the adult section was taken down, 70% of online’s prostitution ads would go with it. Maybe some would find another place to advertise but it would put a dent into this global crisis.
If even just one, two or three girls are spared because backpage.com shuts down adult ads, isn’t that enough?
